The new smart sleep system features a smaller hub, expanded biometric tracking and AI-powered temperature adjustments, with prices starting at $1,999.
Eight Sleep has introduced Pod 6, the latest generation of its temperature-regulating sleep system, with a redesigned control unit and significantly more biometric sensors designed to monitor sleep without requiring a wearable device.
Announced on September 23, the new system combines automatic heating and cooling with sleep tracking technology that monitors heart rate, breathing, heart rate variability and sleep stages. Its software uses the collected data to adjust the sleeping environment throughout the night.
Unlike a conventional smart mattress, Pod 6 uses a temperature-controlled cover that fits over an existing mattress. A separate unit, known as the Hub, manages the system’s heating and cooling functions.
One of the most significant changes in Pod 6 is the expansion of its biometric sensors.
The new mattress cover contains 18 sensors, compared with just two in the previous generation. According to Eight Sleep, the increased sensor density allows the system to distinguish between people sleeping close together and better separate a sleeper’s biometric signals from those of a child or pet sharing the bed.
The data also feeds Autopilot, the company’s AI-powered software, which learns individual sleep patterns and adjusts temperature settings based on sleep stages, environmental conditions and daily activity.
The Hub has also undergone a major redesign. It is approximately 50% smaller than its predecessor and can now fit underneath most standard bed frames rather than occupying space beside the bed.
Despite the smaller design, Eight Sleep says its redesigned thermal system delivers temperature adjustments 20% faster than previous generations.
For couples sharing a bed, each side continues to operate independently, allowing two people to maintain different temperatures and sleep tracking settings.
Pod 6 also introduces Solo sizes, expanding the company’s product range beyond its traditional full-bed configurations.
The new Solo cover can be used on smaller mattresses or fitted to one side of a larger bed. This allows an individual to use the temperature regulation and sleep tracking system without covering the entire mattress.
In the United States, Solo configurations start at $1,999, while standard full-bed versions start at $2,699.
However, the hardware purchase is not the only cost. Pod 6 requires an Autopilot membership, which starts at $17 per month or $199 annually. Higher membership tiers provide additional monitoring features and extended warranty coverage.
The new product arrives as Eight Sleep continues to expand its technology beyond temperature regulation and basic sleep tracking.
The company has introduced additional software features during 2026, including Pregnancy Mode and Biological Age, alongside updates to its Autopilot system.
It is also pursuing regulatory clearance for sleep apnea-related technology in the United States and Abu Dhabi. Those efforts remain separate from the newly announced hardware specifications and should not be interpreted as regulatory approval for Pod 6 as a medical device.
For now, the new generation focuses on combining more detailed biometric monitoring with automated temperature control in a system that can be installed on an existing mattress.
Pod 6 is available to order from September 23, 2026, with the company announcing availability across 37 countries.
