The forestry technology exhibition is expanding its outdoor demonstration areas in Munich, with 400 exhibitors expected and international participation accounting for 41% of the total.

INTERFORST 2026 will introduce new outdoor demonstration and activity areas, allowing visitors to see forestry machinery and production processes in operation rather than relying solely on static equipment displays.

The exhibition, scheduled for October 15–18 at Messe München, will bring together 400 exhibitors from across the forestry and wood industry. According to the organizer’s September 23 announcement, exhibitor numbers have increased by 14% compared with the previous edition in 2022, while international companies account for 41% of participants.

One of the main additions for 2026 is an expanded outdoor exhibition area, where 44 companies will present machinery, vehicles and equipment through live demonstrations.

The new activity areas will cover several stages of the forestry value chain, including timber transport, mechanized harvesting and firewood processing.

Demonstrations will examine how digital connectivity can support harvesting operations and how timber moves through different processing stages, from forwarding and sawing to splitting and energy use.

The expanded format gives visitors an opportunity to observe equipment under operating conditions and examine how different technologies fit into forestry workflows.

Alongside the machinery demonstrations, INTERFORST 2026 will feature technologies designed to improve operational efficiency and reduce resource consumption.

The organizer has highlighted new drive and energy systems, alternative materials, AI-powered applications and digital platforms among the innovations being presented.

Developments in crane and harvesting technology will also feature, with manufacturers focusing on equipment performance, reduced downtime and improvements to everyday forestry operations.

Digitalization will extend into the conference program. Sessions scheduled for October 16 will examine forestry technology trends and the potential applications of artificial intelligence in the industry.

Other discussions will address climate-resilient forests, workforce development and the carbon footprint of timber supply chains.

The exhibition will cover the forestry value chain, from reforestation and timber harvesting to wood processing and energy production.

INTERFORST 2026 will take place from October 15–18 at Messe München in Munich, Germany.
